Heartland of Baseball Tour - 2003

For our summer vacation this year, my family went on a tour of some of the Midwestern Major League ballparks, a trip we called "The Heartland of Baseball Tour". We went to six games in six different cities over a period of about three weeks. The games we saw were:

July 23, 2003 at Milwaukee: Astros 3, Brewers 2 (11 innings)

July 24, 2003 at Chicago: Phillies 14, Cubs 6

July 27, 2003 at St. Louis: Cardinals 4, Pirates 3

August 3, 2003 at Cincinnati: Giants 7, Reds 3

August 5, 2003 at Cleveland: Mariners 2, Indians 1

August 7, 2003 at Detroit: Tigers 3, Athletics 2

During the trip I kept a daily journal. The baseball- related entries for game days are reproduced on this site, linked from the scores above. For those of you who have ever contemplated such a family vacation, I highly recommend it. My two sons are ages 14 and 11 (the younger one celebrated his 11th birthday on the trip) and are avid baseball fans. This trip has made some memories that I'm sure will last a lifetime, for them as well as for their Mom & Dad!
